SUPER EXCITED!Receiving books from Books 4 PNG Kids is (almost) as good as going to the State of Origin for these pupils from remote schools in Simbu Province in PNG’s Highlands.“Those village kids were super excited,” says Charles Bilgan, who, with a team of dedicated supporters, recently delivered more than 200 cartons of books donated by Books 4 PNG Kids to all the schools in Sinesine-Yongomugl District (SSY), Simbu Province, about 250km northwest of Lae.“Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces makes us so thrilled. Education is life. We must promote and support it by all means.”A total of 22 primary schools and 33 elementary schools in Suai, Tabare and Yongomugl LLGs received books from Books 4 PNG Kids, along with two secondary schools which received a total of eight cartons of books. As a spokesman for the primary schools says, books are very expensive in PNG and the schools could not afford them even though they are essential for literacy.“(The books) will enhance literacy in our schools,” he says.“Thank you volunteers in Australia for packing, shipping and delivering these books successfully in our district, SSY.”The SSY district education officer thanked Books 4 PNG Kids and volunteers on behalf of all the teachers, pupils and communities for sending the books to the schools.Thank you also to Charles and team for their tremendous effort.Charles is a Men Of Honour (MoH) ambassador who embarked on the deliveries for Books 4 PNG Kids after graduating earlier this year from PNG University of Technology in Lae with a degree in building. #GUPNGSA @gupngsa #QUTPNGSA #ProjectYumi #RaraRareiFoundation #VolunteeringAustralia | Books 4 PNG Kids
